Emma has been an OT working and playing with young children and their parents since 2009

Dr Emma Crawford (PhD) is founder of Respond Clinic, occupational therapist and mum to two girls.

Emma has a passion for working with babies, toddlers, and pre-school aged children. Seeing the many different ways children engage with the world around them brings Emma a huge amount of joy.

She is the director of Respond Clinic and offers clinical services to families on a part-time basis. She is also mum to two beautiful children - her experiences as a parent have undeniably enriched her perspective as a therapist.

Emma is committed to life-long-learning as a therapist and has done further training in

  • Infant Massage,

  • Neuro-protective Developmental Care (accreditation level),

  • Occupational Performance Coaching (intermediate level and fidelity training),

  • Learn To Play Therapy,

  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT),

  • the strengths based approach

  • sensory modulation for mental health

  • the occupational roles of infants,

  • The OT role in emotional regulation and behaviour in children

  • OT approaches to pain management with children, and

  • occupational therapy interventions to childhood sleep difficulties.

She has co-developed and managed culturally responsive and trauma informed OT programs with CALD children and in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander School. She has provided clinical education to over 600 students in Australia and six students on an international student placement in Timor Leste. Emma also holds research and teaching roles with the University of Queensland.
